Debra Goldstein, formerly an agent at William Morris, is the co-owner of The Creative Culture with Mary Ann Naples. Debra represents exclusively non-fiction books on self-help, creativity, fitness, inspiration, and lifestyle. She is looking for authors who are experts in their fields and who have already developed a strong platform for their work.
Mary Ann Naples began her publishing career on the editorial side, working at Doubleday, Simon & Schuster, and Hyperion before starting The Creative Culture with Debra Goldstein in 1998. Mary Ann represents wellness books of all kinds, books on social issues, narrative nonfiction, memoir and select works of fiction.
Laura Nolan joined the company as an agent in 2005. After spending ten years as a literary agent, she joined Barnes & Noble in 2000 to help them launch their trade publishing division. After five years learning everything she could about the largest retailer of books, she became excited about applying her knowledge to her first love -- helping writers get published. Laura's interests are literary fiction, narrative nonfiction and practical nonfiction in the areas of parenting, self-help, psychology, women's studies, current affairs and science.
Karen Gerwin, formerly an agent at William Morris and ICM, joined The Creative Culture in the spring of 2006. She represents writers in the following categories: pop culture, lifestyle, narrative nonfiction, women's interests, and a limited selection of literary and commercial fiction.
Matthew Elblonk, formerly an agent with Collins Literary, joined The Creative Culture in January. He currently represents writers in the world of literary fiction, humor, pop culture, music and young adult. Interests also include commercial fiction, narrative non-fiction, science, and he is always on the lookout for something slightly quirky or absurd.
